Tina Fey Fights for Arts in Upper Darby School District

Not surprisingly, our favorite funny girl, Tina Fey, is a fan of the arts. Specifically, the arts programs at her hometown of Upper Darby. Recently, the 30 Rock creator and former SNL writer has been rallying her friends to sign an online petition against budget cuts that will affect the art and music program at the Upper Darby School District.

The district will be voting next Wednesday night on whether or not to institute a new budget which would cut all of the arts programs throughout multiple elementary schools in the area. Although the proposed plan would effectively demolish their arts programs for students who want to exert their creative energies, it would purportedly save the district about $3 million dollars.

According to Philly.com, Tina wrote an email to friends and family, stating, ” ‘Educational Realignment’ should be the new euphemism for crapping in your own bed.” Yes. Her email then directed readers to SaveUDArts.org to sign a Change.org petition. The petition, which has gained over 17,000 signatures as of today, is seeking a total of 30,000 supporters.

So, yeah, sign the petition. If you don’t, you may actually be killing the world’s next Tina Fey. And that would not be a good thing to do.
