Video Captures SEPTA Bus Beating of NewsWorks Contributor

Update: They got her! Here’s NBC10 with more: “Police identified the woman as 49-year-old Cassie Darby of Philadelphia. SEPTA Police say they arrested Darby today while she was walking near 3100 Chestnut Street. Darby is charged with simple assault and reckless endangerment of another person.”

We love NewsWorks and you should too. That said, we’d like to do our part to bring this perpetrator to justice.

Here’s what went down: NewsWorks freelance photographer Bas Slabbers was riding the bus on May 31st when this lady got on board and proceeded to take a seat. Within a matter of seconds, however, the lady started stomping her way towards Bas, who was seated closer to the back of the bus. Inexplicably, she began “slapping and punching him” in his face and head repeatedly. The fuming female reportedly fled the scene near Germantown and Chelten avenues. Following the attack, Slabbers sought medical attention for the injuries he sustained.

Listed at 5’5’’, the suspect is reportedly a black female of “stocky build” who wore “a pink shirt, dark jeans, and white framed sunglasses” on the day of the assault.

If anyone happens to spot her, the police specifically warns “not to approach her and contact 911 immediately.” Any relevant information can also be reported to Northwest Detective Division at (215) 686-3353/54 or the tipsline at (215) 686-8477. You can also text your tip to 773847 (PPD TIP).
