Staph Meal Blogger Still in Custody

It’s been a while since we last heard from Joshua Scott Albert, the blogger- who basically gave the entire city a free lesson on how not to blog -behind the infamously inflammatory website, Staph Meal.

Back in September, Albert was charged with three counts each of criminal solicitation to commit murder, terroristic threats and harassment when police caught wind of two Facebook pages he created in an ill-fated attempt at satire.

One page called for the murder of two of the PPD’s top brass and another was a support group for the two (alleged) murderers of Officer Moses Walker Jr.

Albert had his preliminary hearing today, and he’s still being held on $300,000 bail. FOP President John McNesby, one of the officers Albert “targeted” on Facebook, testified that his family was frightened after hearing about the page. District Attorney Seth Williams, also present during the hearing, stated that Josh’s antics “went beyond bad taste and ignorant repulsive behavior to criminal behavior.”

Josh’s defense lawyer is apparently using the “Come On, Guys” strategy, indicating that no one was taking the threats seriously, “This was clearly satire but not funny satire by somebody who should have kept his mouth closed – primarily my client.”

You can read Josh’s official statement on the charges here, and we’ll be sure to keep you posted on any updates during the trial.
