Protect your skin and eyes from the sun’s harmful UV rays without cramping your style. Below are three precautions you should take this summer, all which up your style factor.

Shady Hats: Wander 30 minutes north of Philadelphia to Pipersville and you’ll stumble upon Mary Ann Kouch’s Couture Creations. Mary Ann Kouch, hat maker and designer, appeared on the TLC show, “Get Your Face On,” in 2008 to showcase her hat creations.  Couture Creations features handmade designer hats. If you’re looking to keep the sun out of your face without jeopardizing your look consider this vintage number. The Emery fedora hat ($165) in honey gold parisisal straw with an ivory grosgrain and linen flowers would be perfect paired with a flowing dress or a laid-back jeans and top.

Shady Specs:
Another great way to keep the sun off your face this season is with a sleek pair of shades. Omega Optical, located in the lower level of the Comcast Center, offers the designer shades that other stores in Philadelphia don't carry. What’s popular this summer? Cartier, Chanel and Gucci. Try out these 2009 Gucci shades ($295), which offer 100% UVA/UVB protection. For the younger crowd, the 80’s retro look is very popular right now. Ray-Ban wayfarers ($109.95) and colorful aviators are making a statement this summer. Carerra racing glasses ($116.99) are also a huge hit in Philadelphia.

Shady Block:
Even with a hat and sunglasses, it’s important to protect your face with SPF. Voted 2009 best tinted moisturizer by In-Style Magazine, Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer is packed with 20 SPF and a hint of color, giving your face the natural glow of a foundation as well as sufficient protection from the sun. Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer is available in seven shades for $42.
