Art of Electronica
July 1, 2010
Allison Hawkey
By: Allison Hawkey - editorial@aroundphilly.com
Allison Hawkey is enjoying life before being forced into the real world. Although still a loyal resident of South Jersey, she is excited to live in Philly for the summer. Excessively sarcastic and a little too honest, she enjoys collecting spoons, running, karaoke and Wawa stuffed pretzels.

You may recall the one-year anniversary party of G last winter, an event that featured Benji Madden spinning, celebrity appearances by Lance Bass, Cheryl Burke, and Playboy centerfolds Monica Leigh and Courtney Culkin, and a line that snaked all the way around the corner. Todd Rodeghiero and Mark Marek, the collaborative force behind the successful Trckd Media Group, were responsible for the sold-out evening. Now, they’re at it again.

This summer, Trckd is commencing with their latest project: Art of Electronica (AOE), a new brand that will focus specifically on large-name electronic artists of all kinds. AOE will serve as a turnkey entertainment operation that will book, fill, and promote artists, in addition to serving as a marketing platform for sponsors that seek to reach a specific demographic. Although the genre of electronic music is a globally large industry, it has remained unformed in the tri-state area. Trckd hopes to change that with AOE.

AOE celebrated its launch in Atlantic City on July 4th at the anticipated Nervous Beach Party, sponsored by Cabana Cachaca Rum, Training Camp, and Playboy Energy Drink. This special Sunday outdoor daylife event is presented in collaboration with New York City’s number one house music label, Nervous Records, and lasts from 12 – 8 PM at the Hilton. Well-known house artists Oscar G and Pablo Ceballos will be performing, with opening sets by John Alvarado aka Mista A, and DJ JNH. This is only the first of a series of events in which AOE will be teaming up with Nervous Records, and looks to be a very promising start in defining AOE as the tri-state region’s premiere source for electronic music entertainment.

So what can you look forward to from AOE in the future? Rodeghiero and Marek will continue to focus on the Jersey shore for the remainder of the summer, and you can look forward to another big event in Atlantic City on Labor Day. But, don’t worry, they already have a couple of events planned in Philly come August, and after Labor Day weekend AOE will officially be transitioning into Philadelphia territory. Their first Philadelphia event will be in August, and although they won’t say who, they are finalizing plans to bring in a major artist who has a new album being released in August. With plans for large-scale Halloween and New Years’ Eve events underway, AOE won’t be slowing down any time soon.

To keep up with AOE, text AOE to 77950, e-mail trckd@trckd.com, or visit their site at www.artofelectronica.com.
