For the second time in three months, an artist has taken a radical turn into new territory, which is always what’s happening at Rodger LaPelle. “‘Get Me Off this Rock’ and other new works” finds Andrew Wodzianski turning his back on previous detailed figure work enmeshed in unease and moving into a realm that touches on advertising for our new millennium but in a most mutated fashion. Space Age in a Romantic sense, the work comments on simpler times that promised in the year 2008 we’d all be traveling around in hovercraft and personal jetpacks. Didn’t happen (ain’t gonna either) but Wodzianski takes this world of ours and nudges it into an alternate reality of his own making.
