We know that half of Philadelphia (if not all of it) will be calling out "sick" from work at least once during the World Series–and we share your sympathies–which is why we’ve discovered some Phan-tabulous bar deals, specialty cocktails and viewing parties that will leave you no choice but to call the boss the morning after.
Chickie’s & Pete’sThe next best thing to being at the ballpark is being a part of the action at Chickie’s & Pete’s. The legendary South Philly sports bar is catering to Phils fans with its October Baseball Package. Sixty bucks includes an all-you-can-eat special from the entire menu, open bar with premium liquors and free stuff like party favors and prizes. Phillies announcer Dan Baker will be calling every away game live from C&P’s.
McGillin’s Old Ale House
McGillin’s pays tribute to the best baseball team in the U.S. (whether on the charts or in our hearts) with new specialty drinks to try while watching the World Series on one of eight hi-def TVs. The “Phillie-tini,” made with raspberry vodka, triple sec and cranberry juice and rimmed with red sugar crystals, is one for the ladies. Gents can try the Phanatic Pheckin Bomb made with a pint of cider and a shot of half Pheckin Irish Whiskey and Apple Pucker.
Finnigan’s Wake
Cole Hammels’ jersey number minus the price of a dime ($25 for non-math people) is what you’ll be paying for unlimited Coors Light and a wings-dogs-pretzels-and-more buffet at Finnigan’s on October 25 at 8pm. And don’t think the partying ends when the game does because the fun will continue through the night with live entertainment, no matter the score.
Morton’s the SteakhouseNot exactly the first place you’d think to watch the game and throw back a few but those who’ve already penciled in dinner reservations and client meetings can order Morton’s special “Phillytini” to go with that porterhouse. Absolut Citron, Gran Marnier liqueur, cranberry juice and lime juice, topped with foam made from egg whites, lemon juice, Chambord and Funkin Raspberry Puree, make for an eye-catching ode to the Phils.
Gypsy Saloon
Conshy favorite Gypsy Saloon is offering specials by the inning, in addition to the $5 "Flyin’ Hawaiian," in honor of Shane Victorino. There’s specials like $1 PhilaRita shots, complimentary wings and $2 drafts. And when–not if–the Phils win the game, guests will get $10 gift certificates.
