After a particularly daunting afternoon at the office, my cohort and I were craving a margarita. However, said cocktail was required to be cheap, geographically convenient and taste so good it would remind Caitlin of her time south of the border. Eight minutes later, we found ourselves at Manayunk hot spot, Cactus, assaulting the bartender with thousands of questions about flavor, mixture and price (yeah, we’re cheap)
Caitlin chose the mango marg (she’s sort of a pansy) and I opted for the classic Cactus. Luckily, they were quite tasty (and only $5 on Margarita Tuesdays, woo-hoo!), ensuring I wouldn’t hear comments like, "this tastes like ocean" or "is the Schuylkill River in my drink?" because seriously, she says things like that.

The Drink: El Vez‘s Blood Orange Margarita
Why We Likey: Sweet, but not overly so. Line the rim with sugar or salt–both work. Also, they’re strong. Unexpectedly strong.
However…. They’re a bit pricey- and they only come in the frozen version. Hell-o, brain freeze.

Why We Likey: Deceptively strong (we say that about everything, don’t we?) these little suckers are good until the last drop. Hands down, they’re the best margs we’ve seen outside of Mexico.
However… These bad boys are only free when you order an entree.

Why We Likey: We were guest bartending and we decided we loved drinking them as much as we did serving them. Ok, maybe just slightly more…
However… They’re pre-made. Isn’t that cheating?

Why We Likey: "Wouldn’t it be crazy if we drank this whole thing?" …ten minutes later "Oh, wow. Should we order another?"
However… A little bit tourist-y, a little bit much. Also, expect to be carded; who orders these things?!
NOT A TEQUILA FAN? (PSSH)
