We all wish we could dine out for a week straight, trying a different restaurant each night. Now’s your opportunity to do just that, without breaking the bank. University City Dining Days is kicking off the weeklong celebration of good food from July 23 through 30. Twenty-one participating restaurants are offering three-course meals for three separate prices beginning at 7pm each night. Courses range in price from $15, $25 and $30 and such venues include Slainte Irish Pub and Grill, Dock Street Brewery and Marigold Kitchen.
If you’ve got a craving for some comfort food, then Slainte Irish Pub in Grill has got to be on your list this week. There’s nothing better than kicking off your meal with Slainte’s Baked Macarroni and Cheese, which is crispy on the top with warm melted cheese in the center. For the main course, take your pallet south of the border with Slainte’s Chicken and Black Bean Burrito, which features toppings of corn, white rice, Monterrey cheese, guacamole, salsa and sour cream. If you’re feeling fishy, give the Blackened Tuna Steak a go, which is accompanied with fresh vegetables and Old Bay seasoned cheese fries. For dessert, try the melt-in-your-mouth Cream Cheese and Chocolate Chip Brownie. Slainte’s Dining Days menu is a mere $15 for the 3-course meal of pure comfort. Click here for the menu!
World Café Live offers a small selection on its $25 Dining Day menu, but the food is bound to please. To start, World Café Live offers your choice of a salad and a cup of its soup of the day. For the main entrée, take a stab at the Braised Short Ribs with mashed potatoes and vegetables. For dessert, give your sweet tooth the choice between the Key Lime Pie or the Brownie Sundae. At Marigold Kitchen, the $30 three-course meal menu is as appetizing as it is filling. Have your choice of four appetizers like the cucumber salad with scallions, mache and apple cider vinaigrette. For the main course, choose between hearty entrees featuring chicken breast, seared rockfish, sliced pork shoulder, salmon or saffron pasta. To top off the meal, satisfy that sweet tooth with chocolate pound cake with vanilla bean glaze and fresh strawberries. Other Magnolia Kitchen dessert options include peach cobbler with black pepper ice cream or a lemon semifreddo.
It is strongly encouraged to call the restaurant ahead for reservations, given the popularity of the event. Parking is available for $7 from 5pm – 12am. To see the restaurants participating in University Dining Days and the menus they offer, check out: http://www.ucityphila.org/diningdays.
