It’s nearing the end of the summer. You’re tired of the traffic to the Shore, but you’re craving one last escape from Philly. Lucky for you, Chester County Restaurant Week, which runs from August 2 – August 9, is the perfect retreat for you and your appetite.
If 15 of the best Chester County restaurants aren’t enough of an incentive to start making your re
servations, then let’s explore the price, the free gift certificate and the menus a bit further. For only $30.09 (yes, 9 cents), you’ll be able to indulge your senses in a 3-course meal. You’ll walk away not only feeling pleasantly full, but with a $10 gift certificate in hand as well, which is valid at any of the participating Restaurant Week venues.
If you like Irish and American-style cuisine in a laid-back, vibrant atmosphere, then Molly Maguire’s Restaurant and Pub is your best bet for a 3-course meal of sheer comfort foods. To start off, choose between Irish nachos, Reuben spring rolls and sweet crab and potato bisque with fried basil and lobster oil. For your main entrée, take your taste buds across the pond with a classic, Molly Maguire’s fish and chips. Shepherd’s pie is also available for those feeling the luck of the Irish. The third main course entrée also available is the pork chops with a Chardonnay peach sauce.
Whether you like your food prepared fried, battered, smoked or blackened, The Big Easy has got you covered for Restaurant Week with an extensive menu of appetizers, entrees and desserts to choose from. There’s chicken andouille gumbo, the crawfish bisque or the renowned Nola fries, topped with homemade cheese sauce, fresh crabmeat and Old Bay. For something more adventurous to kick off your meal, order-up the smoked gator sausage with dirty rice and Jezebel sauce. Take your time deciding between one of the five entrees. If you’re feeling fishy, perhaps stick with either the pan-seared crab cakes with sweet corn gravy, cheesy grits and fresh veggies or the flame-grilled grouper with pina colada jasmine pilaf, grilled pineapple and Godiva white chocolate liquor cream with toasted macadamia nuts. The Big Easy has four dessert options, featuring items like bananas Foster, white chocolate blueberry bread pudding, raspberry sorbet and chocolate mousse.
If you have a thing for variety, w
orldly flavors and appetizers, Riverstone Café is your destination for Chester County Restaurant Week. Known for its incredible tapas selection, Riverstone’s crab and shitake Rangoons are just one of the many tasty options, featuring jumbo-lump crabmeat, herbed cream cheese, shitake mushrooms and crystallized ginger with teriyaki dipping sauce. Riverstone Café also has ostrich on the Restaurant Week menu. (Yes, you heard me correct. Ostrich). For an appetizer, the ostrich filet is served with artichoke-bell peppers, couscous and Cabernet demi. To fill you up for the main course, Riverstone Café won’t be skimping out on the good stuff or cutting corners. Menu items such as pan-seared filet mignon with white truffle mashed, roasted shallot and confit Cabernet demi and the lobster and prosciutto flatbread with Fontina cheese, imported Prosciutto di Parma ham and Maine water lobster are among two of the choices.
After finishing your first two courses, you will be able to choose a sweet item off the dessert menu. For a meal worthy enough for the most savvy world traveler, make your reservation at Riverstone Café here.
