VIDEO: Citigroup VP Becomes Philly Chef

Tastee indeed! After just one bite into that savory sweet plantain I knew I had to tell someone about this place. Chef Adedotun “Dot” Adepoju is a Nigerian-American accountant-turned-chef whose goal was to bring the essence of “home” to South Philly. Now even if your native home is not West Africa, you will appreciate and love his home with each and every bite of your food. When the recession claimed Dot’s successful career as the assistant vice-president at Citigroup, he turned to his life passion of being a chef and owning his own restaurant. Since opening in August, Tastee D’s has experienced an overall positive response from its South Philly fans and Center City patrons. With plenty of options to choose from—the most popular appetizer is SUYA, grilled beef marinated in a blend of African herbs and exotic spices—there is definitely something for everyone.
