Rittenhouse Village’s Noble: An American Cookery is now offering new brunch and lunch items from chef Steven Cameron. Come Monday through Friday at Noble for affordable lunch selections like New York Moulard duck breast ham, slow baked mustard crusted artic char and pulled-pork BBQ. Brunch is served on Sunday from 11am to 3pm and includes fresh cheese crepes, scrapple breakfast and banana and bacon French toast. Entrees comprised of seasonal ingredients and costing anywhere from $6 to $15, Noble should definitely make your must-eat list for October. See Steven Cameron cook for us here!

 
Interested in checking out the finer pizza and pasta choices Philly has to offer? Then you’ll need to head to Taglio in University City. Offering authentic pizza and pasta sold by the pound, Taglio is a welcome change from other local pizza places, mindlessly shucking less-than-fresh slices without care. Try one of their 14 varieties of rectangular deep-dish pies such as the Margherita, spinach or zucchini. Pan pies are all custom cut and sold at either $8.50 or $11.50 per pound. Recently named one of Philadelphia Magazine’s “Top 50 Restaurants 2009," Supper restaurant on South Street is hosting a series of family-style Sunday Suppers with proceeds benefitting The Food Trust. Using local produce from the Headhouse Square Farmer’s Market and costing only $38, Sunday Supper pairs wonderful fall dishes with full-flavored harvest ales and lagers. Chef Prensky’s menu also includes sweet potato veloure and bacon and cheddar gougeres with Flying Fish Oktoberfish ale as well roasted breast of chicken with braised bitter greens and Yards Poor Richard’s Tavern Spruce.
 
 
Rum Bar’s daily happy hour from 5 to 7pm is perfect for those of you looking to enjoy unique, seasonal cocktails. Lead mixologist Adam Kanter has concocted a long list of fall-inspired drinks that will help you settle into the season. Don’t forget to try the $10 dessert drinks like the Pumpkin Pie Martini, made with Tommy Bahama Gold Rum, pumpkin liqueur or the Bananas Foster Martini. Stocking more than 150 rums, you can be sure Rum Bar has some of the most interesting specialty drinks in Philly.

Your favorite West Chester Brewery, Iron Hill, is hosting “The Gathering of The Gourds, A Celebration of Pumpkin Ales and Pumpkin Snacks” on Saturday, October 24. A seasonal celebration of pumpkin beers and food, Iron Hill’s event will feature complimentary pumpkin snacks such as pumpkin chili, pumpkin and mushroom gratin. Starting at 2pm, the evening will close with “Guerilla Drive In” hosting a screening of Evil Dead: Army of Darkness. Bruce Campbell and pumpkin-inspired snacks? How could you turn this down?

This October the Latin-Asian fusion restaurant, Chifa, is debuting a new Buns & Beer happy hour. Come Monday through Friday from 5 to 7pm and pair one of chef Jose Garces’ gourmet buns with your choice from select microbrews for only $10. Take advantage of additional specials including: two beers and two buns for $15, three beers and three buns for $20 or four beers and buns for $24. The four for four offer is too good of a deal for you and your friends to pass up.

Held on the banks of the Brandywine River in Downingtown, Firecreek restaurant brings to you their first Sierra Nevada Beer Dinner on Wednesday, October 14, at 7pm. Chef Carlo deMarco has crafted an intricate five-course meal that pairs a variety of Sierra Nevada beers with every course from appetizer to dessert. Featuring courses such as potato-wrapped boneless short rib with a Torpedo Extra IPA and San Francisco-style cipooino with muscles, shrimp, clam and scallops, the entire five-course meal is only $65. Guests can choose from a variety of new wine additions by the glass including MacMurray Ranch California Pinot Noir, Grayson Red Zinfandel and Carmenere from Argentine. All held on the banks of the Brandywine, BYOB Sundays at Firecreek should be an excellent way to spend post-Eagles afternoons.

 

Formerly the home of Roux 3, Parker’s Prime Steakhouse is now offering their incredible fall menu from chef Takao Linuma of Iron Chef fame. Located in Newtown Square, Parker House offers excellent steakhouse dining in a warm and ambience and variety of cuts ranging from, dry-aged and Kobe beef, cowboy steaks, porterhouse, angus rib-eye, prime angus as well creative sushi other sea food. With a 120 bottle wine list and a fine selection of seafood, Parker’s is one steak house with a little versatility.

Venture to Terra, the underground restaurant/hobbit hole on Camac Street for a fine selection of delicious meals. Savor their pan-seared scallops with goat cheese polenta and mushroom sautee or seared tuna in celeriac puree with pistachio brown butter in their dark wood, exposed brick haunt. Conshohocken’s one and only Blackfish is introducing Chip Roman’s brunch on Sunday. Served from 10am to 2pm, brunch will include beef short ribs, “eggs benny”, Maple Acre organic eggs, and the Classic “BLT” with fires. In addition, Chip Roman’s Chef Tastings will continue every Tuesday throughout the month offering a finely prepared four-course for meal for only $45.  

 

Check out happy hour at The Terrace at 13, Wednesday through Friday this October with $2 drafts, $3 wine, $4 specialty cocktails and $5 margaritas. The outdoors venue along with chef Judson Branch’s jerk chicken skewers with pineapple salsa, pork sliders, home empanadas, wedge iceberg salad with blue cheese will have you thinking that it’s still summer. Take a ride out to Radnor to celebrate 333 Belrose 10th Anniversary. All this October, 333 Belrose is offering a three-course menu for $33.30. Choose from a selection of chef Carlo deMarco’s special menu items including Chipotle black bean soup and slow-braised short ribs. Wine list is 50 percent off for bottles under $100 and 20 percent off for bottles over $100 on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

 

Another one of chef Jose Garces’ restaurants you should check out this October is the Cantina at Distrito. With new menu items all under $10 including a variety of tacos and Mission-style quesadillas, Ditrito is a perfect spot for fine dining in tough times. Don’t forget about their margaritas and $2 cans of Tecate. All this served in Philadelphia Magazine’s “Top 50 Restaurants 2009” should make for a memorable dining experience. Other menu items include Tacos al Carbon stuffed with hanger steak, pulled pork, portabella or tongue; Esquitos with sweet corn with queso fresco, chipotle and lime.

If you want to eat the freshest farm-to-fork ingredients in Philly, then you have to stop by Fork this October. This month Fork Restaurant offers diners a number of ways to celebrate the season with some amazing hands-on events on and off land. Old City’s gourmet take-out shop is offering with free classes with visiting experts and a special wine dinner. Check out the sushi-making class with chef Hiroko Shimbo or join chef Terence Feury (pictured) and fishmonger Anthony McCarthy’s fishing excursion with boxed lunch served on the boat. Treat yourself to some gourmet pizza at Stephen Starr’s new restaurant, Pizzeria Stella. This neighborhood-style pizzeria has taken the place of Headhouse Square’s Cosi location and serves fresh, wood-fired pizzas in twelve varieties. With a mix of classic and new styles including margherita; buffalo mozzarella; San Daniele with prosciutto and smoked mozzarella; and baby arugula and ricotta salata, Pizzeria Stella is sure to challenge your typical pizza expectations.
