Dear Philadelphia Fashion Week: where was Sonia Rykiel? Don’t get us wrong; we loved Triple Five Soul and Brooklyn Royalty. However, Recess Lounge has proven that a world-renowned Parisian designer like Sonia Rykiel (the designer now spotlighted at H&M) does have a place in Philly. On that note, get in touch with her people immediately. In the mean time, we’ll be drooling over Sonia’s autumn and winter lookbook.
Her first-ever Philly fashion show, held at Recess, was a sight to behold. Chairs lined either side of the lounge, turning it into a mock runway for a team of models from New York and Philly. Michelle Miller, CEO of the Nouveau Image and Recess’s token spokeswoman, could be found dumping piles of blue glitter up and down the runway (a “finishing touch” that likely caused a few models to lose their footing). Meanwhile, her assistants guarded the door, making sure no guest entered without a photo shoot on the green (yes, green) carpet. The music was stellar and the place was packed, making for an authentically out-of-Philly experience. Is Recess finally delivering on their promise to bring New York nightlife to the city of brotherly love?
