HOW TO: Lace Nails

The lace nail trend is hotter than ever due to its versatility and its ability to look sweet or edgy, depending on how you wear it. Celebs like J-Lo and Blake Lively have been seen wearing this sexy look and, luckily for you, recreating the style at home is much easier than it looks.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

- Lace, preferably in black or another dark hue. You can find it at your local fabric store.
- A light-colored nail polish; our favorites are Versailles and Orgasm by NARS or Chanel’s Django and Ballerina
- A clear top coat
- A toothpick or orange stick
- Small scissors or nail clipper
- A nail file

PREP: Cut ten small pieces of lace (black is my fave) so that they are slightly larger than your nails, then set aside.

SET: File your nails as you would with a regular manicure. Apply a coat of light-colored polish and let dry. Next, apply the clear top coat and immediately top with the pieces of lace. You may need to gently tap the nail edges with a toothpick or orange stick to smooth it down and prevent any corners from lifting. Apply an additional top coat to set the lace in place.

FINISH: After allowing nails to dry (approximately 10 minutes), cut away any excess lace with the scissors or a sharp nail clipper. When nails are dry to the touch, carefully file the edges to smooth out any lace that might overlap. Applying another clear top coat and continue to apply every other day to increase the life of your manicure.
