With an unmistakable style that’s sort of like someone threw a rave on Sesame Street and sprayed everyone in the face with acid, NoseGo has successfully managed to blur the realms of fine art and street art to create some of the most refreshing images in an increasingly derivative and commodified field.
Born and raised in Philly, the former UArts graduate parlayed his studies in fine art into the more accessible sphere of street art, but not out of some erudite exercise into crossover aesthetics, “It came from being trained in fine arts and getting bored of painting trees and still lives, then trying out street art because I felt the need to share my work with people.” The resulting style is hyper-realistic surrealism that, while aesthetically innovative, is still susceptible to contemporary culture’s ever-decreasing attention span.
NoseGo uses a mix of acrylics, aerosol, and markers, juxtaposing imaginary creatures and anthropomorphic hamburgers that seem to come alive in some strange corner of the mind that, unfortunately, was previously unexplored. Using this unique style, NoseGo describes the effect of his paintings has as akin to, “…wearing vintage clothes but riding a hover board.” And as you can clearly see, his images are just as attention-grabbing and pleasing- like seeing Marty McFly cruising down Broad on a pink hover board.
