Don’t spend another Saturday night alone in your room shredding your air guitar to Van Halen. Come down to Johnny Brenda’s tomorrow and watch how it’s really done as R5 Productions hosts the Philly regional round of the U.S. Air Guitar Championship contest. Fourteen faux-rockstars will be flaunting their air guitar skills as expert judges critique their performances on technical merit, stage presence, and “airness.” The winner will get a free trip to New York where they will compete in the National Championships.
Unfortunately, it’s too late to sign up for the competition, but you can still adopt an air guitar pseudonym while you jam in the audience. I’ve already got mine picked out: Eddie Shredder (although I’m also partial to Queef Richards).
