It Now Costs More to Leave Jersey

The Delaware River Port Authority has just increased the tolls for the Commodore Barry, Walt Whitman, Ben Franklin and Betsy Ross bridges. So the price to leave Jersey has now been increased from $4 to $5 just in time for the holiday weekend, though we wouldn’t expect anything less from the bureaucratic powers that be.

While the increase still pales in comparison to the tunnels and bridges in New York that hover around $6 to $8 (I seem to remember paying $11 for one of their tunnels) this move only serves to further perpetuate the old adage that New Jersey’s sleazy politicians require us to “pay tribute” should we want to leave the state. In summation, this really isn’t a big deal but it still sucks.
