MTV Turns 30

Today is the 30th anniversary of MTV’s cable debut. For a nostalgic look into the network’s infancy, as well as some cringeworthy, throwback 80’s television ads, you can watch the very first hour of MTV’s existence over at The Key. But feel free to watch the very first day right here.

If you didn’t know already, the first video ever played on MTV is The Buggles’ “Video Killed the Radio Star.” That’s chuckle-worthy considering video didn’t just kill the radio star; it buried the body and replaced it with a gang of guidos that can hardly fist-pump in rhythm let alone possess any speck of musical talent.

Pepper's and absolutely, positively despises the fact that Temple University is changing the obnoxiously wordy title of the Broadcasting, Telecommunications and Mass Media major right as he is on the cusp of graduating.
