Watch: New Jay-Z and Kanye Video for “Otis”

The anticipation for Jay-Z and Kanye’s new collaborative album, Watch the Throne, has been tangible for months. Both artists are at the top of their game and it’s hard to imagine a more influential duo in the world of hip-hop. Though the album won’t be released until August 23rd, their video for the track “Otis” was released yesterday and well, meh.

The song is about as good as any of Kanye’s non-singles and the video reminds me of Lenny Kravitz’s cover of “American Woman” (smoke, big American flag, slight resemblance to a Gap commercial). We’ll see soon enough if this is the best that they have to offer (something tells my Kanye wouldn’t want to stagger the hits on this one) but we’re REALLY hoping there’s more to the album than 2008-ish flare and mediocre songs.

Really hope this album is good. Jay-Z has been uncool for like two records now.
