Back to the Future 2 came out way back in 1989, but since then, fans have been waiting for one of the film’s unique future inventions to become a reality. Well, it looks like that day has finally come. Nike has released a YouTube video three days ago depicting a mass stockpile of replica shoes- the same infamous future Nikes Marty Mcfly wore in the 1989 flick. The kicks even feature LED panels and an electroluminescent Nike logo… so yeah, they’re not going to be cheap.
They’ve been dubbed the Nike MAG and in the film, Marty Mcfly wore them in 2015 but hey, we’re not going to complain about the early release. About 1500 shoes will be auctioned on eBay with proceeds going towards the Michel J. Fox Foundation. Right now, the price on a pair is $8,200 and there’s still 13 hours left of bidding.
Check out the promo for the shoe below as well as their original appearance. We’re sure a hover board is coming soon… it has to.
*Update: TMZ reports that the first pair has sold for $37,500…apparently you have to have starred in the film to afford a pair.
