Dead and Dreaming: H.P. Lovecraft’s Creatures Brought to Life at Paradigm Gallery

The Autumn Society seems to always be coming up with insanely entertaining ways to trick people into going to gallery shows (ahem, a show dedicated entirely to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles). Starting Friday, Paradigm Gallery (2020 South Street) will be hosting an exhibit featuring works inspired by the incomparable horror writer, H.P. Lovecraft.

Whoever came up with the idea for this show is a genius. H.P. Lovecraft, while not exactly a household name these days, has written some of the best horror stories. Period. And a lack of (good) cinematic representations  (an At the Mountains of Madness film has been canned because Guillermo del Toro refused to oblige the studio’s demand for a PG-13 rating) means that everyone has their own mental image of how the author’s creatures ACTUALLY look.

So heed the call of cthulhu and stop by Paradigm Gallery this Friday for the opening reception.
