Bucks County Families’ Vacation Info on Facebook Leads to Burglary

Sharing private information with Facebook friends is nothing new. But for one family in Bucks County, a Facebook status update detailing their planned vacation led to their home being burglarized.

Newtown Township Police said 36-year-old Steve Piecznyski robbed his Facebook friend’s home on Robin Road in Wrightstown Township, taking coins, jewelry, and 120 DVDs in late September.

Piecznyski was later arrested on October 20th after his license plate number was traced when a neighbor thought his car looked suspicious. Investigators later realized the accused is friends with the victim on Facebook. Some of the stolen items were found.

Piecznyski’s lawyer claims his client is innocence, but called into question the larger issue regarding who to share private information on social media sites like Facebook.

After the being released on $2,500 bail, one can only assume Pieczynski will be deleted from the victim’s friends list.
