Total Bummer: Questlove Censored After Bachmann Debacle

What ever happened to the days when a band could surreptitiously denigrate a political candidate on a late night talk show, huh?

After The Roots chose to play Fishbone’s “Lyin’ Ass B*tch” as Michelle Bachmann appeared on Late Night Jimmy Fallon, NBC is now ordering Questlove to submit the band’s song choices for prior approval.

The Bachmann incident wasn’t the first for The Roots; the band also chose to play “She Blinded Me With Science” during Katie Holmes’ appearance on the show, no doubt a mocking her affiliation with The Church of Scientology. But now that three NBC execs will be filtering The Roots’ set list, expect a lot more Huey Lewis and The News and/or Air Supply.
