10,000 hits of Homer Simpson and Sponge Bob-themed acid worth $28,000 and $10,000 in cash: That’s certainly not your average drug bust.
Police are reporting that they’ve halted a massive LSD ring on Drexel’s campus after they raided a home near 48th and Florence Street. The investigation began after a Drexel student, who was previously apprehended on marijuana and gun charges, began cooperating with authorities. Another person later joined in on the narcing, served as a second informant in the year-long investigation.
Five people were arrested in the overnight raid, including Raphael Zappala, 33, and Joshua Dassay, 31, and Wesley Crawford, 34. Police claim Dassay has warrants in nine other states. The suspects have been charged with Delivery, Possession with Intent to Deliver, Conspiracy, Use of a Communication Device to Facilitate a Narcotics Transaction and Endangering the Welfare of a Child since there was apparently a child in the apartment complex.
There’s a “Doh!” joke here somewhere, but we’ll spare you… this time.
