Your completely gratuitous, six-block cab ride is going to cost you a little more cash starting today. The Board of the Philadelphia Parking Authority, the group tasked with regulating taxis in Philadelphia, has enacted a new tax fuel charge for all city taxis.
The fuel surcharge took effect at midnight and will add another $1.25 to every cab ride you ever take for the rest of your non-pedestrian life. Okay, in actuality, the extra fee will only continue until the end May, when officials will examine extending it through June.
A tax of $2.75 will also be added to all trips to and from the Philadelphia International Airport.
