Weird Construction Near South Street Bridge Is for “CHOP Thing”

If you’re one of the many unlucky bastards whose morning commute hinges on the hellish bottle neck that siphons South Philly traffic to the South Street Bridge, we’ve got an update on the somewhat bizarre construction happening outside the beer distributor hangar.

What we thought were the crude beginnings of a much needed exit ramp are actually just some “thing[s]” for CHOP that will in no way ameliorate your morning gridlock. Naked Philly approached workers who confirmed the unfortunate news, stating they were constructing a “mock up of the CHOP thing.” A Naked Philly reader helped to elucidate the mystery, and apparently these type of mock-ups are pretty standard for large scale projects, as they ensure that design is up to snuff.

We’ll keep you posted if and when the city of Philadelphia finally builds a high-speed off ramp and provides your author with a less harrowing evening commute.
