Kailyn Finnegan was a varsity swimmer at Lehigh University before falling in love with writing. Finnegan grew up on Kiawah Island off the coast of South Carolina. She enjoys working out, trying exotic sushi rolls and going to the beach with friends when not filming and writing for Aroundphilly.com

April S. Torres, founder of IsabellaGraceOriginals, has always found the beauty in just about anything. With her new couture jewelry line, Torres takes things that were once not wearable and transforms them into fashionable works of art. We ran into Torres at Fashion in Public at the Public House a few weeks ago, as we too were attracted by the jewelry she was wearing from her own collection. (Check out the video here.) Her advice to the fashion-savvy? Be original, go green and make a big statement. Below are some great picks.

Go Original
These days, it seems like everyone looks the same. “People want to stand out and make a statement and original jewelry pieces can go a long way,” says Torres.

Upgrade that little black dress with Green Goddess ($85, left) for a chic and cheap way to doll-up your look. If you are a white tank-top kind of girl, add some wow to that blank canvas with this vintage-inspired Strawberry Fields Forever necklace ($139, right).

Go Green
“A lot of things from the past just need a little life breathed into them,” says Torres, who takes recycled pieces and fuses them with color and crystals. Take the What’s The Point necklace ($139, left). This deconstructed fabric necklace features a vintage shoe clip, which is adorned with rhinestones and Swarovski Crystals. Another cute recycled accessory is the Head of the Class headband ($69, right). This piece uses a vintage crystallized brooch, which is attached to the top of a black leather headband for a more modern look.

Go Big or Go Home
Another piece of advice from the jewelry guru is to make a statement with your jewelry this summer by incorporating oversized, flashy pieces. “Anything that’s big and bold is hot for summer,” says Torres. For a larger-than-life look, snag the Eifel Power Ring ($49, right) and pair it with the Twisted Sister necklace ($99, left), all for under $150.

You can browse Torres’s latest looks on her site at http://isabellagraceoriginals.com and purchase IsabellaGraceOrignials’ designs at either of her three locations in Philadelphia or N.J. All pieces are one of a kind and can found at Showroom77 (1520 Kater St., 215.868.3812), at the Moxie Blue Salon (501 Route 73 S., Marlton, N.J.,856.985.6255) and at Baccio Boutique (11 E. Main St., Moorestown, N.J., 856.222.9300)
