The Aroundphilly.com staff sometimes get up from their desk to (*gasp*) do more than microwave a burrito. Once every crescent moon you can find the staff congregated in the meeting room, surrounded by pizza, Red Bull and notepads. From these meetings comes some of our best articles.

We can't all be blessed with a fourth-story roof deck or a penthouse at the Drake. For those of us who miss our vacation star-gazing nights but are stuck in the city, this Thursday we can head over to the newly refurbished Joel N. Bloom Observatory at the Franklin Institute. Look for shooting stars through one of the NASA-worthy telescopes or just sit back and enjoy the 360-degree view of our galaxy. The Observatory will be open the second Thursday of each month during the summer for those who can't make it this week.

$5, May 10, 7:30pm, The Franklin Institute, 215.448.1200, www.fi.edu
