Description: Imagine if the Brady Bunch (in cahoots with our main man, Stephen Starr, of course) opened a kitschy yet chic downtown eatery. We have, and we pretty much imagined exactly what Jones already is. With its see-through fireplace, night light-lit booths and plastic swivel chairs, Jones is like a snap shot of a 1970s living room—only cooler. The menu offers home cooked classics like mac and cheese and fried chicken with fries and coleslaw. We love the meal called Thanksgiving dinner, which is exactly what you’d expect: a plateful of turkey day goodness (roast turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy). And although the food hasn’t gotten the same rave reviews as Barclay or Buddakan, it certainly achieves what it’s supposed to as straight-from-Mom’s-kitchen soul food. Top it off with a PB&J martini (without the crusts).
