Description: With restaurateur Marc Vetri’s sophomore effort, he focused on bringing Tuscany to Philly, with an extensive wine selection, homemade pastas and wood-grilled meats and fish. Although Osteria attempts to be more casual than Center City’s Vetri, everything about the dining experience feels elegant. From sommelier table service that helps you find the perfect pairing to chefs who present your cut of meat before grilling it up, Osteria certainly lives up to fine-dining standards—and redefines them. We loved the wood-grilled venison leg, and the pizzas are like a trip to Italy with paper-thin crust and melt-in-your-mouth fresh cheeses. But all of this goodness doesn’t come cheap, so come with a well-padded wallet. Vetri makes his rounds to ensure guests are satisfied and to chat up the professional crowd. The exposed brick feels rustic and warm, but we love sitting on the glassed-in patio, strung with white lights. Osteria is a sure-fire date-night destination.
